Describe the purpose of snap ties in relation to concrete form work.

What will be an ideal response?

Snap ties hold forms together at the desired width. They support the forms' sides against lateral pressure from the wet concrete. Walers are used to provide additional reinforcing to form work. Once concrete has cured and the forms are removed, the snap tie ends are broken off just inside the surface of the concrete. The remaining holes are either grouted or capped.
