What is a Maternal wall?

What will be an ideal response?

ANS: Both employers and coworkers may assume that women workers who have children are more invested in family than they are in their career. These unexamined assumptions and the behaviors that result are referred to as the maternal wall. For example, an employer might assume that a woman with children is interested in a promotion that would require her to relocate and therefore not offer her the opportunity. Similarly, coworkers might assume that a woman who is a mother does not want to participate in activities outside of work and therefore not invite her to join the rest of the group. In this way, the mother misses out on important informal networking opportunities.
