Discuss and explain why most marriages tend to be endogamous
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: Endogamous: marriage limited to partners who are members of the same social group or caste. Exposure to potential partners might be limited due to social segregation in, for example, schools and places of worship. Endogamous marriage may be enforced through social or legal sanctions. Sexual or marital partnerships outside the group may be cause for a range of sanctions, from family disapproval to social ostracism to legal consequences. Anti-miscegenation laws: laws passed by states to prohibit interracial sexual relations and marriage. Could also be due to individual racism, ethnocentrism, prejudice, or segregation.
