Students may talk about global competition for jobs, the vulnerability to exploitation of many workers, the challenges of rapidly changing economies, lack of technology, and other factors. Isolation and exclusion can compound disadvantages in jobs, housing, health, education, political voice, and opportunity. Various development programs could be discussed that include an emphasis on education, on providing basic needs, on expanding job opportunities, and so forth. Students may focus on a key element such as health and wellness, women’s empowerment, child survival, etc.
