Discuss the ways a fireplace can remove warm air from the home’s interior.
What will be an ideal response?
If the damper does not close tightly, warm air will flow upward through the chimney in cold weather and wind may
drive air downward through it into the home during any season. Even when a fire is burning in a standard fireplace,
much of the heat produced by the flames is lost up the chimney and a great deal of warm air is also pulled from the
room.
