• The MPC seems to combine forgery and uttering, along with counterfeiting under the title Forgery.
• If a person commits any of the following with intent to defraud or injure or with knowledge that he is facilitating a fraud or injury perpetrated by anyone, he is guilty of forgery.
• Alters any writing of another without authority.
• Makes, completes, executes, authenticates, issues, or transfers any writing so that it purports to be by another person who did not authorize the act.
• Represents a document to be a copy of the original when no original exists.
• Utters a document which the actor knows to be a forgery.
• Writing includes: printing or any other method of recording information, money, coins, tokens, stamps, seals, credit cards, badges, trademarks, and other symbols of value, right, privilege, or identification.
• Grading: forgery is a felony of the third degree unless the writing has to do with money securities, postage or revenue stamps, or other documents issued by government, or stocks, bonds, or other or instruments representing claims against any property or enterprise, in which case the forgery is a second degree felony.
