Compare and contrast placental mammals, marsupials, and monotremes. What will be an ideal response?

Monotremes lay eggs. Marsupial mammals deliver very premature young, which climb into a
protective pouch where they are further protected and nurtured. In placental mammals, the
development of the placenta allowed nutrients and oxygen to flow from the mother to the
embryo during development, and the young develop more fully before birth. Hence, when
they are born, placental mammal young generally are able to live independently.
