Compare and contrast how women offenders are treated in China and Finland.

What will be an ideal response?

In China, women are considered subordinate members of society. According to the authors, as a result of these cultural views, women are treated as they were children and protected, so they are more likely to receive reduced sentences. Also, if Chinese women show remorse to the course, she is more likely to receive a shorter sentence. In Finland, on the other hand, women do not benefit from preferential treatment by officials; there is greater gender equality in Finland than there is in China.
