Explain how your communication style is influenced by your self-concept and how your self-concept
influences your communication style.
What will be an ideal response?
Answers will vary. Our communication style is influenced by our self-concept because the way that we see ourselves influences our communication and behaviors with others. If we believe we are outgoing, we are more likely to engage in communication with others, which in turn, influences how others respond to us by perhaps reinforcing our outgoing communication style and seeking more interactions with us. This, in turn, enhances others' perceptions of us and reinforces our communication style, which then continues to enhance our positive self-concept.
