List the four types of interest groups and define each of them. What are some examples of each type of interest group? Which group is most affected by the free rider problem?

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Economic interest groups aim to influence policy for the pocketbook issues of their members. An example of an economic interest group would be the Chamber of Commerce. Equal opportunity interest groups seek to influence the government on behalf of people who feel they are not represented on account of who they are. Individuals who are part of the LGBTQ community are likely to be part of these interest groups. Public interest groups try to change policy in accordance with values that they believe are good for everyone. An example of a public interest group is the National Rifle Association. Government interest groups seek to get favorable trade policies or foreign aid packages. Generally, government interest groups are people hired by the government to lobby other governments. Public interest groups are the groups that are likely to be the most affected by the free rider problem.
