At times, problems can be too great a challenge for a teacher using bibliotherapy. Some problems cause too much stress to be adequately dealt with through this approach. Teachers should become aware of which problems fall into this area, recognize the limits of their skills, and be prepared to refer such problems to others who are trained to deal with them. Teachers should be considerate of family and cultural differences.
