Identify the constitutional standard for use of force by police as identified under Graham v. Conner

What will be an ideal response?

In the Graham case, the Court recognized that the police officer’s duty to make arrests and to conduct searches and investigatory stops carries with it the authority to use force reasonably or to threaten the use of force. The Graham decision allows officers to use force for two reasons only: defense and control, not punishment.
