What has been the criticism regarding individual liberty and police crackdowns? Do you agree with this criticism? Why or why not?

What will be an ideal response?

Crackdowns raise questions about the right balance between crime control and individual liberty and privacy in a constitutional democracy. Crackdowns intrude deeply into people's daily lives, interfering with their right to come and go as they please and to be let alone by government. Some residents complain that crackdowns turn their neighborhoods into "police states.". Young black men complain that officers "hassle" them simply because they are young, black, and in the neighborhood. Inevitably, crackdowns affect innocent people who have no intention of committing crimes or causing trouble. The remainder of the answer is student's opinion.
