Describe the two methods used to turn off an SCR.
What will be an ideal response?
In the first approach, current must be removed from the anode (positive) end of the SCR. When this happens, the current through the SCR drops below the holding current value, and the SCR turns off.
Another way to turn off an SCR is to apply reverse bias to it: that is, put a negative voltage to the anode and a positive voltage to the cathode.
