Describe the difference between age-related (dry) macular degeneration and wet macular degeneration
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: In age-related or dry macular degeneration, the macula deteriorates with age. In wet macular degeneration, abnormal blood vessels grow under the macula because of an abnormal level of vascular endothelial growth factor. These abnormal blood vessels are fragile and they leak fluid, causing the macula to lift away from the retina with a resulting loss of vision.
