Ans: Compassion fatigue may include empathetic withdrawal or empathetic enmeshment. Secondary traumatic stress can occur when mental health professionals working with traumatized individuals experience emotions and behaviors that result from listening to a traumatic event experienced by a client. Vicarious traumatization is a phenomenon in which the therapist may experience many of the same symptoms of trauma that the client experiences.
