Discuss the benefits and concerns of genetically engineered crops

What will be an ideal response?

Benefits: higher crop yields, more nutritious foods, less pesticide usage (BT corn), crops that can produce pharmaceuticals and vaccines. Concerns: pesticide resistance (BT corn), allergic reactions in people, death of desirable insects such as monarch butterflies (BT corn), unknown and long-term health effects. Note: These are concerns, not necessarily proven phenomena.
