Clark concludes that Internet dating is centered on personal gratification, not commitment or

obligation to long-term relationships.

Present the conceptual arguments about whether
Internet dating will be the new future in interpersonal relationships for couples.
What will be an ideal response?

Internet dating is proposed as a new alternative form of communication for couples to
interact and get acquainted, and which might substitute for part of the early stages of the
process for forming relationships. Clark's interviews do show that interaction in chat rooms
can mirror the relationships of the early dating relationship, but rarely accomplish any real
depth in trust, intimacy, or commitment. As such, they are useful for gaining acquaintances
and entertainment, but couples must go to face-to-face interactions to form more serious
"pure relationships".
