Discuss the impact of immigration on the labor force of the United States.

What will be an ideal response?

A factor that significantly influences the U.S. population and labor force is immigration. Immigrants accounted for approximately 40 percent of recent U.S. population growth. Immigrants are frequently of working age, but some have different educational and occupational backgrounds from the rest of the labor force. The demographic importance of immigration intersects with legal issues governing who is permitted to work in the United States. Immigration is one reason why the labor force in the future will be more ethnically diverse than it is today. A more diverse workforce has many advantages, but managers have to ensure they provide equality for women and minorities with respect to employment, advancement opportunities, and compensation.
