Explain why it would not be advisable to rely exclusively on vitamin pills instead of eating vegetables for healthy nutrition.

What will be an ideal response?

While supplements can supply vitamins, whole foods have extra health benefits that supplements do not. Vegetables are good sources of antioxidants that protect the body's cells from free radicals. These free radicals are associated with cancer, heart attack, and stroke. Antioxidants are part of a broader category of compounds known as phytochemicals that have been found to benefit health. Eating a variety of whole-food vegetables, then, provides a range of antioxidants and phytochemicals not obtained by supplements.
