In addition to the collection and dissemination of vital statistics, the NCHS coordinates a variety of population-based health surveys. What are the strengths of these surveys?
What will be an ideal response?
First, because they are population-based the sampling technique used can provide prevalence estimates for different areas of the country as well as for demographic characteristics. Secondly, the surveys use standard questions, many of which have been asked in generally the same way for years. Thirdly, these surveys are repeated on a regular basis (annually, or every few years) so that tracking of health status is possible.
