Describe the rationale for, and activities involved with, developing a planning document

What will be an ideal response?

A written document or plan is the product of a planning team's efforts, is helpful for organizing key objectives, and serves as a guide for those persons involved in the implementation process. The structure and formality of a plan will depend largely on the needs and capacity of the organization (based on the aforementioned needs assessment).

Following are some format and content issues for the planning process and the development of a planning document:

1 . Develop statements of vision, mission, and values.
2 . Identify primary objectives that define critical outcomes anticipated from the change to COPPS.
3 . Select strategies from among various options outlined during the process that clearly outline the primary avenues and approaches that will be used to attain objectives.
4 . Set goals that are general statements of intent.
5 . Set objectives, specific statements of what must be done to achieve a goal or desired outcomes.
6 . Set activities, detailed steps necessary to carry out each strategy; they should be time-framed and measurable.
7 . Identify a responsible person for every task.
8 . Set timelines for the completion of tasks.
