Contrast the methods used to assess brain activity.

What will be an ideal response?

Doctors use the electroencephalogram (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to assess brain activity. The EEG only measures activity in the cerebral cortex, but the fMRI measures in both the cerebral cortex and other areas of the brain. The fMRI cannot be used with toddlers, though, as it requires the patient to lie still.
