Families play a critical role in facilitating and supporting young children's development. Families are the primary socializing institution for young children, such that children are educated, taught important values and beliefs, and learn about their culture and communities through family. A student's role as a practitioner is to help families realize the significance of their role in a child's development. A practitioner must work closely with families to ensure the best support and services are offered to young children and their families. They do this through ongoing communication and collaboration.
