What does the immune system respond to when a person
has a food allergy? How is this different from a food
sensitivity?
When someone has a food allergy, their immune system
responds negatively to protein components of foods,
particularly eggs, milk, soy, and wheat. People with food
sensitivities (such as lactose intolerance) do not react to foods
by mounting an immune response.
