These analysts believe that because of our technological ingenuity, there is no limit to the amount of people that the planet can support. The presence of more people means there are more workers, consumers, and creative people to support ever-increasing economic growth. They believe that we can avoid serious damage to our life-support systems through technological advances, especially by increasing food production per unit of cropland and continuing to make major advances in health care.
