Reports from battered women show that the majority of children do witness domestic violence; some actually see their mothers being beaten and raped. They hear their parent screaming and crying; they see the effects of blood, bruises, or broken windows and furniture. Violence towards an intimate partner causes a variety of psychological problems for the children and places them at greater risk for delinquency and adult criminality. Children witnessing family violence is being linked with a variety of problems, from aggression and hostility to depression and cognitive impairment. Answers will vary.
