Once you are ready to actually answer the question that an audience member has posed to you, explain

the five things you need to keep in mind.

What will be an ideal response?

(1 ) Know your topic thoroughly. Your success during the question-answer period will depend on
the research and preparation you've put into your speech. Try to know more than you
included in your speech.
(2 ) Be as brief as possible. Short answers are easier to remember than lengthy ones. The shorter
each answer, the greater the number of questions you can field.
(3 ) Be methodical in giving lengthy answers. When you need to give a detailed answer, use the
"frame it, state it, and explain it" approach.
(4 ) If you don't know the answer, admit it. Making up an answer is unethical and causes you to
lose all the credibility you work to build up during your speech.
(5 ) Be careful about what you say publicly. You can't take back information presented during
your speech, so choose your statements wisely. Never say anything that would embarrass
you or slander others.
