Presence of albumin in the urine. Abnormal, but could be caused by an increased permeability of the glomerular membrane, excessive exertion, pregnancy, or excessive intake of protein. Pathological causes: kidney trauma due to blows, ingestions of poisons or heavy metals, bacterial toxins, glomerulonephritis, and hypertension. Often initial sign of renal disease.
