Some species are inherently vulnerable to human activity and therefore vulnerable to extinction. Large animals are not only more visible, hence easier to find, they may serve as "trophy" species. Fast animals may be able to elude the hunter or trapper, slow animals become easy prey. An animal that is tasty is one that will be in great demand for food and therefore under constant pressure. And those with valuable parts will be vulnerable to both legal and illegal pressure to provide their parts for the market.
