Explain how ecological models are used for cancer screening in the U.S

Multilevel factors related to participation in preventive cancer screenings can be communicated in a social ecological model. For example, the Colorectal Cancer Control Program funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention uses an ecological model to communicate information about mediating factors and encourage communities to plan multilevel programs. Intrapersonal factors related to intention and actual screening participation include a person's knowledge about the need for screening, screening options, how to access a screening, and beliefs (e.g. fear of the test). Demographic and personal history factors such as age, gender, and health history are other potential factors. Interactions with others and norms established with friends, family, health care providers, community health workers, and patient navigators represent potential sources of interpersonal messages and support. Provider prompts and encouragements are examples of evidence-based strategies implemented on this environmental level.?
