Describe three ways in which socioeconomic status can influence student learning. In your description compare patterns in high-SES families to patterns that tend to exist in low-SES families
What will be an ideal response?
Several factors related to SES influence learning. They include: 1) basic needs, 2) family stability, 3) school-related experience, 4) interaction patterns in the home, and 5) parental attitudes and values. For example, high SES parents are more able to meet their children's basic needs and are more likely to read and talk to their children and provide school-related experiences for them, such as taking them to places like zoos, museums, and art galleries than are low SES.
