Critique how holistic life course perspectives are.

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: life course perspectives typically do not support social work’s emphases on a holistic understanding of individuals as bio-psycho-social spiritual beings. For example, these theories do not readily address intellectual and spiritual development as their focus is linked to Freudian thought and to intrapsychic identity development. They take into account the impact of a broad range of historical and social environmental “causes” of identity development. However, it must be noted that life course theories continue to ignore broader societal phenomena such as discrimination and oppression as they impact individual and community growth and development.
