Artifacts and creations consist of the tangible, physical, or hearable things in the
environment of the organization.
Schein defined values as an individual's or group's "sense of what 'ought' to be, as distinct
from what is."
Basic assumptions represent the essence of culture for Schein. He argued that once a
solution to a problem has shown itself to work time and time again, it becomes "taken for
granted." That being so, members holding the basic assumptions find behavior that
deviates from them to be incomprehensible.
