Betty is a frail eighty-two-year-old and arrives at the law office being pushed in a wheelchair by her caregiver. Her caregiver is loud and bossy and tells the receptionist that they are "here to see the lawyer about Betty's will.". You are a paralegal and have been instructed to do the client interview. Fully discuss how you will proceed, describing any ethical concerns that you have and how you

will deal with them.

What will be an ideal response?

Betty should be encouraged to meet privately for the interview without the caregiver present. Unless Betty is insistent, the caregiver should not be allowed into the consultation. The interviewer must be extremely careful that Betty is not under the undue influence of the caregiver.
