Briefly describe the activation of devices in a Jensen Electric Co. fire alarm system when a fire is detected.

What will be an ideal response?

When a fire condition is detected, two alarm devices are activated. The first is one of the tones produced by the paging system. The second is a high-intensity strobe light that produces 75 flashes per minute. The strobe light is powered directly by the smoke detector in office areas. The fire alarm system is programmed so that when a fire is detected, all of the audible alarms produced by the paging system are activated. Not all of the strobe lights are activated, however. Only the strobe lights located in the area of the detected fire are permitted to flash.
