Because it is a loan, the contributor has no control over the product or service. However, the entrepreneur has taken on a liability. In the investor model, the investor will be given equity. As with any equity investment, care must be taken to ensure that the investor’s involvement will be additive to the project. This may be difficult unless some screening is possible.
