Compare and contrast the attachments of the muscles of the upper and lower limbs to their respective girdles.

What will be an ideal response?

The attachment of the upper limb to the pectoral girdle is the loosest in the body, allowing the ball and socket joint of the shoulder to be capable of the greatest amount of movement in the body. The shoulder joint is deepened and stabilized by the glenoid labrum and the muscles of the rotator cuff, respectively. The hip joint is deeper, and depends less upon muscles to control the position of the head of the femur.
