The outer ear is made up of the auricle, which is a cartilaginous portion of the ear, and the external auditory canaL The external auditory canal is a closed-end tube that has two sections. The outermost section is made of cartilage and the innermost section consists of bone. The middle ear starts at the tympanic membrane. The malleus is embedded within the tympanic membrane and the incus attaches to the malleus. The stapes is attached to the incus and to the oval window of the cochlea. The Eustachian tube runs from the middle-ear cavity to the back of the throat. The inner ear is comprised of the semicircular canals and the cochlea.
