The flexibility of language only serves to enhance communication.

Answer the following statement true (T) or false (F)

False

While the many uses of language make it ideal for communication, this flexibility has its drawbacks. Some sentences can be used to say more than one thing, and if we are not careful, it may be unclear what we wish to communicate by an utterance of that sentence. "I went to the bank yesterday" could either mean that I went to a certain kind of financial institution yesterday or that I went the edge of a river yesterday. Effective communicators, and hence critical thinkers, must be on guard to not let such ambiguities hinder communication.
