Assume that 64 nodes form a MANET in the form of 2-D grid. If an arbitrary source node is selected, what is the maximum number of hops a message has to travel? Calculate that carefully.
What will be an ideal response?
The optimal location of the 2-D grid as the same node is one of the four
locations (A, B, C, D), as indicated in the Figure. For any of these locations, the
maximum hops to be traversed are 4+4 = 8 hops to one of the corners. If a
corner node (E, F, G, H) is selected as the source, then the message has to
traverse up to 7 + 7 = 14 hops located at the diagonally opposite side.
