Answers will vary but should include that a random sample gives every member of a group an equal nonzero chance of being selected for inclusion. A stratified sample divides a larger group into a series of subgroups based on a category (e.g., year in school), and then takes random samples from subgroups to ensure proportional representation is included. Convenience samples are nonsystematic and include whoever is conveniently available to participate in a research study. As a nonrandom sample, it cannot claim to be representative of the population.
