Discuss the importance of twin and adoption studies to human behavioral genetics research

What will be an ideal response?

Monozygotic twins share identical genotypes and environments, but may have different phenotypes. Dizygotic twins share identical environments, but have different genotypes. Adoption studies separate the variables of environment and genetics; for example, the observation that sons adopted by alcoholic men show a rate of alcoholism closer to that of their biological fathers than that of their adoptive fathers indicates that alcoholism has a genetic component.
