Research the term müllerian. To what does this term refer?
What will be an ideal response?
Müllerian refers to work attributed to, or anatomical elements described by, Johannes Müller. Müller described the müllerian ducts, also called the paramesonephric ducts, which are the embryonic tissues that form the fallopian tubes, cervix, uterus, and the superior segment of the vagina. This tissue is lost as the male fetus develops. Müllerian (duct) abnormalities refer to anatomic abnormalities involving this embryonic tissue that result in anomalies of the female reproductive structures. Patients with müllerian defects typically have normal ovaries and normal external genitalia, so anomalies are typically discovered after puberty or when attempting to conceive.
