About one-third of women and one-fifth of men who have been stalked sought psychological counseling as a result of their victimization. More than one-fourth of stalking victims said their victimization caused them to lose time from work. This included attending court hearings, meeting with psychologists or other mental health professionals, meeting with attorneys, and avoidance of contact with the assailants.
