Describe dissonance theory and how it explains attitude change.?

What will be an ideal response?

ANSWER:
?According to dissonance theory, inconsistencies among attitudes or between attitudes and behavior cause an unpleasant physical state called dissonance. Think of dissonance as a state of unease much like being hungry or being anxious. It stems from the realization that we have behaved in a way that is contrary to our self-concept. Because dissonance makes us feel bad, we are motivated to stop this unpleasant feeling, which can lead to attitude and/or behavior change.
