Mandatory release—inmate served their entire time in prison/jail, no supervision, no conditions, no restrictions on behavior, without rehabilitation plan, sex offenders can be held based in some states based on a danger to the community; good-time release, served less than full sentence but have been a model inmate on good behavior, encourage prisoners to follow rules, refrain from violence, participate in various programs.
