Which organism is more likely to go extinct-one with a specialized, narrow niche or one with a broad, generalized niche? Explain your answer.

What will be an ideal response?

Organisms with fairly specialized niches are more likely to go extinct than those with broader niches. An organism with a specialized niche will suffer more when the habitat is altered because it uses resources in a very specific way. If there is a change in the resources, it cannot use others, so it will perish. A generalist can use alternatives when its favored resource is lacking.
