What are the benefits and challenges to the co-teaching approach?
What will be an ideal response?
ANSWER: Answer should reflect: Educating students with exceptionalities is a team effort. Co- teaching allows for inclusion (incorporating children with exceptionalities into the general education environment) while providing the general education teacher with resources and support to meet the needs of all students. In co-teaching both the special education and general education teacher take instructional responsibility for ALL students in the class. Finding the time to plan collaboratively and working effectively as a team can be challenging particularly without a supportive school environment.
