The cervical vertebrae (C1—C7 ) are located in the neck. The thoracic vertebrae (T1—T12 ) are located in the chest. The lumbar vertebrae (L1—L5 ) are located in the lower back. The sacrum is a group of five fused vertebrae that are not individually numbered, except for the first sacral vertebra (S1). The coccyx (tailbone) is a group of several small, fused vertebrae that are not individually numbered.
